It’s PEI Marathon weekend. It’s the 20th anniversary for the PEI Marathon and this year there are 12 categories of events taking place over the two days. On Saturday, the categories include the 10K Run; 10K Walk; 5K Run; 5K Walk; 2K Wheelchair; and the Kids Fox Trot.
Obviously, there are some road closures to allow for the PEI Marathon events to take place. Saturday’s events begin at Prince Street by Confederation Landing.
The roads that are closed Saturday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. include:
- Water Street between Prince Street and Haviland Street
- Haviland Street between Water Street and Richmond Street
- Richmond Street/West Street from Rochford Street to Kent Street
- Victoria Park Roadway and Kent Street from Brighton Road to West Street
Traffic delays are also expected along the route from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and will impact Queen Elizabeth Drive, Charlotte Drive, Edinburgh Drive, Brittany Drive, Maplewood Crescent and Woodbine Crescent.
