Two people from PEI have died as a result of a two-vehicle collision in New Brunswick on Sunday. It happened at about 3:45pm in Melrose, which is not far from the Confederation Bridge. Police say there was a head-on collision between a minivan and a pick-up truck hauling a trailer on Route 16. The driver of the minivan, a 43-year-old Charlottetown man, and a passenger in the minivan, a 37-year-old Charlottetown woman, both died at the scene as a result of their injuries. The driver, and sole occupant of the pick-up truck, was taken to hospital with what are believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
