Friday is Parade Day in Charlottetown. The 2024 Gold Cup Parade begins at 10 a.m. on North River Road near Queen Charlotte Intermediate School. It will continue left onto Brighton Road before making its way down Euston Street, where it will turn right onto Great George Street, then Grafton Street, and Rochford Street, and left onto Fitzroy Street where the parade will end. Keep in mind that road closures will be in place along the parade route and adjacent intersections beginning at 9 a.m. and will reopen following the parade. Because of those road closures, access to and from the area bordered by Euston, Great George, Grafton, and Rochford Streets will also be restricted between 9 a.m. and approximately 12 p.m. To allow for the staging of the parade entries, North River Road between Belvedere Avenue and McGill Avenue, as well as Kirkwood Drive between North River Road and Trafalgar Street, will be closed to all traffic beginning at 7 a.m. with the exception of registered parade entries. Parking is prohibited along the entire parade route until the conclusion of the parade.
This should be an extremely colourful Gold Cup Parade. The Parade theme is A World of Colour and all have been encouraged to decorate in accordance with the theme. Spectators can share in the celebrations by wearing their brightest colours to the parade. The Parade Marshals for the 61st Gold Cup Parade are Canada’s Got Talent stars Cameron Gordon and Megan Connors.
