Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has appointed Government House leader Steven MacKinnon as the replacement for Seamus O’Regan. MacKinnon is the Gatineau MP and a Charlottetown native. The labour and seniors’ minister announced yesterday he was leaving cabinet for family reasons, but will continue to represent his Newfoundland riding. MacKinnon joined cabinet as the House leader in January to replace Karina Gould while she is on maternity leave.
