An early morning fire on Tuesday has destroyed a large apartment building on Elena Court in the Norwood Road area. Both Station 1 and Station 2 of the Charlottetown Fire Department, with mutual aid from North River Fire Department, Charlottetown Police and Island EMS all responded to the fire. Fire officials say everyone got out safely, although some minor injuries are reported. Fire crews remain on scene as the building is being demolished so firefighters can get at some hotspots. The cause of the fire is not clear at this point.
