Youth facing murder charge elects to have case heard in PEI’s Supreme Court

A teenager accused of killing a 17-year-old in December has chosen for his case to be heard by the province’s Supreme Court.  The youth, whose name is protected under a publication ban, has been charged with first-degree murder and interfering with human remains in the death of Tyson MacDonald.  The youth appeared in court Thursday via video from youth jail and elected to be tried by a judge alone rather than judge and jury if the case goes to trial.
