The Florida Panthers are one victory away from returning to the Stanley Cup final. They hung on for a 3-2 road win over the New York Rangers to take a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference final. Florida lost to Vegas in last year’s final. The Western final between Edmonton and Dallas is tied at two and resumes tonight.
Rosetown Mary front-stepped to a Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace victory Thursday night at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. Corey MacPherson was at the controls of his trainee in the $3,500 feature as they stopped the clock in 1:55.2. Taylor MacPherson shares ownership of Rosetown Mary with Rosetown Stable of Stratford.
Only two teams remain in the N-B-A post-season. The Dallas Mavericks eliminated the Minnesota Timberwolves with a 124-103 victory in Game 5 of the Western Conference final. They will play the Boston Celtics in the N-B-A Finals.
England’s David Skinns has a one-shot lead at the R-B-C Canadian Open in Hamilton. Americans Sean O’Hair and Sam Burns are tied in second place at seven-under-par 63. Yuka Saso leads the U-S Women’s Open at two-under-par 68
