The Boston Bruins, who were fighting for top spot in the Atlantic, lost 3-1 to Ottawa. It sets up a Boston-Toronto first round playoff series, while the Panthers will face Tampa Bay. The Winnipeg Jets won 4-3 over the visiting Seattle Kraken to clinched second in the Central Division and will have home-ice advantage in their first-round playoff series against the Colorado Avalanche. The Washington Capitals clinched a playoff spot with a 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers, eliminating the Flyers, Red Wings and Penguins.
Yusei Kikuchi struck out nine in his solid six innings to lead the Toronto Blue Jays to a 5-4 win over the visiting New York Yankees. Cleveland beat the Red Sox 10-7 in 11 innings.
The Los Angeles Lakers secured an N-B-A playoff berth with a 110-106 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans in last night’s Western Conference play-in tournament. The Sacramento Kings beat the visiting Golden State Warriors 118-94 in the N-B-A’s other play-in tournament.
