The RCMP on PEI says the recklessness of impaired driving poses a danger to the public, officers, and occupants of vehicles. Last week alone, RCMP on the Island made 9 impaired driving arrests. Last Friday, one officer conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of two people for impaired driving. The officer was conducting radar enforcement in Clyde River, and while stopping a vehicle for speeding, they saw the driver and passenger switching seats. While the officer was speaking with the new driver, they drove off. Police quickly located the vehicle about 1 km away, in a ditch. Both people in the car were arrested for impaired driving by cannabis. No one was injured as a result of the crash.
