Connor McDavid returned to action Monday night after a three-game absence and recorded his 100th assist of the N-H-L season as the Edmonton Oilers dumped the San Jose Sharks 9-2. The Washington Capitals can punch their N-H-L playoff ticket with one more win. The Caps blanked the Boston Bruins 2-0 last night and can qualify for the post-season if they beat the Flyers tonight. If the Caps lose, the Detroit Red Wings or Pittsburgh Penguins could grab the final wild-card berth with a win. The Red Wings play the Canadiens in Montreal tonight, while the Penguins visit the New York Islanders on Wednesday. The Islanders punched their post-season ticket with a 4-1 win over the New Jersey Devils. The New York Rangers blanked Ottawa 4-0.
Canada’s men’s wheelchair basketball team has earned a spot at the Paris Paralympics. The team secured its spot with a 72-60 win over Italy at a qualifying tournament. Canada’s men’s senior basketball team has appeared in every Paralympic Games since 1968, winning gold in 2000, 2004 and 2012.
As expected, the Indiana Fever selected Caitlin Clark first overall in Monday’s W-N-B-A entry draft.
