RCMP in PEI are asking drivers to be aware and cautious as there may be significant, heavier traffic than normal in the western end of the Island during today’s solar eclipse. The RCMP will be maintaining a strong presence in the area all day long. Drivers should take note that the darkest period, with eclipse totality, is expected to begin around 4:35 p.m. Police suggest that you plan your route and allow extra time for travel; watch for pedestrians; keep headlights on; do not wear eclipse glasses while driving; and don’t try to photograph or video the eclipse while you’re driving.
