Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Ottawa is open to working with any and all provinces and territories that want to establish their own carbon pricing systems as long as they meet federal standards. Trudeau pushed back in a letter against seven premiers, including Premier Dennis King, who want him to cancel next week’s planned federal carbon price increase, which will see the price jump from 65- to 80-dollars per tonne. That’s expected to add about three cents to the cost of a litre of gas. Premier King recently wrote a letter to the prime minister with a request for the PM to cancel next month’s planned increase.
