The provincial government says a shoreline project to reduce the impacts of climate change and erosion at Cedar Dunes Provincial Park is complete. The provincial campground and beach near West Point were starting to wash away due to sea level rise, storm surge and erosion from waves. The province began construction in late 2021 of five rock reefs and an artificial barrier designed to withstand strong storms and waves. It says two more reefs and about 14-thousand tonnes of sand nourishment were added to the shoreline protection system this year.
