Charlottetown councillors are concerned as money budgeted for work on sidewalks, streets and other crucial infrastructure in the city is going unspent as that infrastructure is falling into disrepair. Councillors learned during a meeting Monday night that more than 100-million-dollars council approved over the last five years for capital budgets has not been spent. Councillor Mitchell Tweel says the city is falling behind with infrastructure, which will lead to other problems. The city’s trouble keeping up with budgeted spending started in the first year of the pandemic, and has since worsened, due in part to a shortage of construction workers in the province.
