Sweden edged Finland, 3-2 in the World U17 Challenge on Friday
Canada Red edged Canada White, 4-3 in Summerside to go 2-0 in the World U17 Hockey Challenge.
Luca Romano scored the deciding goal in the third period. Gavin McKenna has two goals and an assist. He’s the player from Yukon who stole the show in the Canada Winter Games held in PEI last March.
The USA ran over Czechia, 10-2. The US goes to 2-0. Jacob Kvasnicka had 3 goals and 2 assists.
Sweden got by Finland, 3-2.
The Charlottetown Islanders took their third straight loss in the Q, 8-4 in Rouyn-Noranda. The Isles led 2-0 early. Kyle Powers had a goal and assist.
The Kensington Wild dropped the Vitos, 10-2 in Saint John in Major U18. Liam Arsenault had three goals and an assist.
The Charlottetown Knights improved to 7-1 with 4-3 overtime victory over the Northern Moose. Kayden McGuigan scored the winner.
Philadelphia ended a three game losing streak in the NHL, stopping Buffalo, 5-1.
St. Louis over New Jersey, 4-1.
The UPEI women’s basketball Panthers ran over winless St. FX, 67-36 in AUS basketball. Lauren Rainford had 19 points and 6 rebounds.
The men’s Panthers lost 85-68 to X. The X-Men improved to 3-0.
Jace Colley had 14 points for the P’s.
UBC won 75-0 over UPEI in the national women’s rugby championship at Laval in the consolation round.
