PEI’s Minister of Fisheries and Tourism says his office plans to continue to lobby the federal government over the need for reliable ferry service at Wood Islands and Caribou.
Cory Deagle the MLA for Montague-Kilmiur attended the Eastern PEI Chamber of Commerce public meeting on Tuesday night in Montague. About 70 people were attendance. All we’re concerned with needing reliable service that has affected tourism, local exporters and businesses this summer.
The Confederation was out of service with mechanical problems for about three weeks as summer began.
There are two ferries in service now but business owners are concerned about the future.
Minister Deagle says a new ferry has been promised by Ottawa but it’s about five years from being built and ready for 2028.
