This past week, PEI’s Minister of Education and Early Years, Natalie Jameson, attended meetings of Canada’s Education Ministers and Ministers Most Responsible for Early Learning and Child Care. Jameson says Indigenous Education was a key focus of the meeting of Education Ministers. The Ministers were able to approve an Indigenous Education Plan for 2023–27, which responds to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Call to Action number 63. Jameson co-chaired the meetings for the Ministers Most Responsible for Early Learning and Child Care. She says the majority of the meeting focused on how they could best work together to enhance recruitment, retention and recognition for the early years workforce. They all agreed to move forward on developing a Multilateral Early Childhood Educators Workforce Strategy.
