Canada Turns 156….PEI Celebrates 150
The July 1st Birthday Party is on!
Today marks the 150th anniversary of PEI entering Confederation and the 156th birthday of Canada.
There will be celebrations across the Island including Charlottetown, where Confederation began, also in Summerside and the always popular day in North Rustico.
A 21 gun salute will happen at noon today at the Victoria Park cannons.
Entertainment will take place all day from 1.30 to 10.00 in the Park with fireworks at 10.00 tonight.
There are some road closures today in Charlottetown. Victoria Park Roadway is closed until 11.00 tonight. Also roads are closed leading to the tennis courts and the Brighton Road entrance by Memorial Field.
There’s only a 20 percent chance of showers for the fireworks at 10.00 tonight to celebrate Canada Day. It will be around 20 degrees at that time.
