A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for all three counties in PEI. Heavy snow and blowing snow will begin Tuesday morning over eastern sections then spread westward in the afternoon. The snow will continue until Wednesday morning. Very strong winds will whip around that snow resulting in poor visibility. Upwards of 20 to 30 cm of snow is expected from Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning with winds gusting to 90kh.
The Public Schools Branch says that due to current and expected conditions, all schools in the Bluefield, Charlottetown, Morell, Souris, and Montague families of schools will close for the day on Tuesday. The Kinkora, Kensington, Three Oaks, and Westisle families of schools will open but the Public Schools Branch says you should monitor the situation for any further announcements that may be necessary.
The French Language School Board says École la Belle Cloche in Fortune Bridge, École Francois Buote in Charlottetown and École Saint Augustin in Rustico will be closed for the day due to weather conditions and predicted conditions.
Holland College says its Georgetown Centre is closed for the day due to the weather forecast.
