The provincial government has introduced new rules for those who ride electric kick scooters. Starting this Saturday, anyone driving an e-scooter on a municipal road or path must be at least 16 years old — and they must wear a helmet. The maximum speed must not exceed 24 kilometres per hour, and each scooter must be equipped with lights and a bell or a horn. E-scooters will no longer be allowed on sidewalks, highways or the Confederation Trail, and their power output must not exceed 500 watts.
