The Rural Municipality of Tyne Valley has received the 2022 Municipal Achievement Award from the Federation of PEI Municipalities.
The annual award recognizes a municipality’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life of residents through local initiatives.
Federation President Bruce MacDougall says the Rural Municipality of Tyne Valley has shown exactly how municipalities build communities, and demonstrated what can be accomplished when municipalities, residents, and other levels of government work together.
Within two years after the fire that destroyed the community rink in December 2019, the Rural Municipality of Tyne Valley built the new Cavendish Farms Community Events Centre — a $10-million, net-zero-ready facility that was constructed within budget and without debt.
