Two hot teams met Friday night. UNB won 3-1 at UPEI
The UPEI men’s hockey Panthers four game win streak came to an end as the visiting UNB Reds won their 6th in a row, 3-1, last night.
Simon Pinard scored twice for the first place Reds including the winner in the third. UNB tallied twice in the final period in the close game.
Kyle Maksimovich had the only Panthers goal.
UNB is 7-2 and the Panthers are 5-4.
The North leading Summerside Western Capitals used a four goal second period to edge the Tigers, 6-5 in Campbellton in Maritime Junior. Ed McNeil got the winner midway through the third as the Caps improved to 10-2. Landon Clow had a goal and two assists. The Caps leads Campbellton and Miramichi by 5 points in the division.
Mikko Rantanen pleased the hometown crowd in Tampere, Finland with three goals as Colorado downed Columbus, 6-3 in the NHL Global Series. Nathan MacKinnnon had four assists.
Carolina has won four in a row. The Hurricanes got by Buffalo, 5-3. Sebastian Aho had three goals and an assist.
Saint John doubled Kensington, 10-5 in Major U18. Ryder Howatt had two goals for the Wild in the loss. Owen Searle, Chase Kerr and Seth Thompson had two goals each for the Vitos.
The Dallas Mavericks held off the Toronto Raptors, 111-110 in the NBA. Luka Doncic tied an NBA record for scoring 30 points in the first eight games of the season with 35. He ties the great Wilt Chamberlain who did it twice in 1959 and 1962.
OG Anunoby had 27 points for the Raptors. Scottie Barnes had 11 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.
Holland College dropped Mount A, 116-103 in men’s basketball.
The Canes won the women’s game, 94-70 over the Mounties.
The Victoria Vikes over the UPEI Panthers, 20-5 in the consolation round semi-final at the U Sport women’s rugby championship in Victoria, BC. Emma MacLean had a try for the Panthers.

Fourth place UPEI visits second place Moncton in AUS men’s hockey tonight.
UPEI will entertain first place UNB in women’s hockey at 7.00.
The Armada is in to play the Charlottetown Islanders in the Q tonight.
Summerside visits Miramichi going for a fourth straight win the MHL, tonight.
UPEI is 2-0 in both women’s and men’s basketball and plays at Acadia.
Holland College plays in the ACAA women’s rugby final facing UNB in Fredericton. The Cane going for their first championship.
The Northern Moose visits the Charlottetown Knights in Major Under 18 hockey at 4.00.
