One of PEI’s best known car dealership businessman has passed away. Daniel Alexander “D. Alex” MacDonald was 95. He died suddenly at the Prince County Hospital on Thursday. He opened a used car dealership in 1957 and four years later he received the Ford Franchise in the Summerside area. The business grew into a resounding success by focusing on customer service and supporting the local community. He credited his wife Kay for his success. Many of his 11 children and grandchildren worked in the family business. He was involved in many community services and events. He and wife Kay were inducted into the PEI Curling Hall of Fame in 2007 and also into the J.A. PEI Business Hall of Fame and he was a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Award and was a Summerside Citizen of the Year.
Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church in Summerside.
