A 26-year-old man from Murray Harbour has been arrested after driving while impaired, driving dangerously, and flight from police in Montague.
On Monday evening about 6.00 Kings District RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle driving dangerously near children in the parking lot of a business on Sullivan Drive. Police located the vehicle which failed to stop, and fled from police toward Murray Harbour.
The vehicle was finally apprehended. The driver, a 26-year-old man, showed signs of impairment, and was arrested. The man was brought to the Montague RCMP and found his alcohol level was almost double the legal limit.
On Tuesday, Chase Raymond Gauthier appeared in Georgetown Provincial Court, and was charged with two counts of impaired driving, flight from a police officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving while prohibited.
Gauthier was remanded into custody and was scheduled to be in Georgetown Provincial Court on Thursday. His vehicle was seized and will be impounded for six months.
