Amendments to the Lands Protection Act that were tabled and passed last Fall will come into force on April 1, 2022. The amendments made to the Lands Protection Act could not be brought into force until the regulations under the Act were updated to reflect the changes. All four regulations pertaining to exemptions, land identification, shore frontage, and forms have now been updated. Agriculture and Land Minister Bloyce Thompson says the changes will further cement government’s commitment to modernizing and strengthening the PEI Lands Protection Act, as recommended by the Land Matters Advisory Committee. Updated application and declaration forms that are required by the Lands Protection Act will be available through the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission’s website.
