Harry Steele, a prolific business leader in Atlantic Canada and across the country, has died.
Steele made his mark in transportation, communications and accommodations with interests in hotels, airlines, radio stations and newspapers.
In 1980, he founded Newfoundland Capital Corporation, and the first radio station he purchased with NewCap was CHTN, which is now Ocean 100, in Charlottetown. He oversaw Newcap’s expansion in the broadcasting industry to include dozens of radio and TV stations.
Steele also launched Eastern Provincial Airlines in the early ’80s, which served Atlantic Canada.
Harry Steele was from Musgrave Harbour, Newfoundland and Labrador.
