Some changes came into effect on Saturday with the province’s Liquor Control Act. The changes were made in the 2021 fall session of the Legislature. With these changes, patrons can bring their own commercially manufactured wine into a licensed dining room, and they can also leave with a recorked bottle if they don’t finish it; retail stores can sell low percentage alcohol; and there’s no limit on the amount of alcohol Islanders can bring into P.E.I. from other provinces as long as it can be safely stowed in their vehicle or luggage. Darlene Compton, the Minister Responsible for the Liquor Control Commission, says many of these changes are consistent with current liquor laws across Canada.
