Troy Lajuenese got the clincher at 17.22 in the third as UPEI edged Dalhousie, 4-3 in AUS hockey
The UPEI men’s hockey Panthers came back for a 4-3 win over the visiting Dalhousie Tigers in a rough and tumble affair in AUS hockey. Game star Troy Lajeunese scored twice including the winner on a power play with just under 3 minutes to play. The two teams combined for 88 minute in penalties. Dal goalie Connor Hicks made 51 saves in the loss. The Panthers ended a 4 game losing streak.
The Summerside Western Capitals got their 18th win in 21 games as they stopped the Edmundston Blizzard, 4-1 in the MHL. Thomas Lacombe scored twice for the Caps.
The Alberton Regals got by Kings County, 3-2 in PEI U18. Travis Wedge had the game winner early in the 3rd period as the Regals came back, down 2-1.
The Pownal Ice Dogs routed Southside, 11-1 in Jr. C. Noah Brehaut, Michael Jenkins and Cameron White all scored twice. Pownal is 5-0 and tied with Tignish for first place.
North River got by Sherwood, 3-2. Nick Buote scored the winner.
The #1 ranked UPEI women’s basketball Panthers made it 9 straight wins as they ran over St. F.X., 81-55. Reese Baxendale had 25 points.
The men’s Panthers lost 86-78 to the X-Men. Elijah Miller had 21 points.
Holland College is 6-0 in men’s basketball. Josh Whitty’s Hurricanes held off Mount St. Vincent, 85-81. Jashajuan Downey led the way with 21 points.
The women’s Canes lost 72-69 to the Mystics to fall to 4-2. Sheleese Hoilette led Holland College with 15 points.
The Montreal Canadiens picked up just their 6th win in 23 games as they skated past the Pittsburgh Penguins, 6-3. Josh Anderson scored twice. Jake Allen made 47 saves in the nets.
The Canadiens are looking for permission to talk to former NY Rangers GM Jeff Gorton just after Scott Mellanby left as assistant general manager.
Detroit edged Buffalo, 3-2 in overtime on a goal by Lucas Raymond.
Los Angeles doubled Ottawa, 4-2.
Edmonton got by Las Vegas, 3-2.
Kyle Connor had two goals as Winnipeg dropped Calgary, 4-2.
The Toronto Blue Jays have signed 30-year old reliever Yimi Garcia to a two-year, $11-million deal which will help their bullpen. Garcia pitched for the A.L. Champion Houston Astros last season.
Dreamfair Zenfire with Marc Campbell driving won the Saturday feature at Red Shores in Charlottetown in 1.57.
Campbell also drove Freddie to a 75th lifetime win in the open trot in 2.03/1.
Racing continues today at 12.30 with a 12 dash card. Bugsy Maguire with Dale Spence driving is the 5-2 favourite in the 11th race feature.

The UPEI women’s hockey Panthers will honour Donnie MacFadyen with a banner raising ceremony prior to their game with Saint Mary’s at 3.00 this afternoon. MacFadyen will be honoured as a builder between 2001 and 2022.
In Jr. B the Kent Koyotes visit the Western Red Wings at Evangeline at 7.00.
Holland College is at Kings College in women’s and men’s basketball this afternoon.
