Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Heather Morrison has announced seven new cases of COVID-19 in PEI.
Two individuals are in their 60s, one is in their 50s, two are in their 30s, one is in their 20s, and one is less than 12 years of age. The individual under the age of 12 years of age did not attend school or an early learning child care center. There is no risk of exposure in a school or child care center.
One of the cases is a close contact of a previously announced case. The additional six cases are linked to an individual with a history of travel outside the province.
Contact tracing is underway, and it is anticipated that there may be more cases and public exposure notifications in the coming days.
All close contacts of these cases will be contacted directly by public health and advised of testing and isolation requirements.
There are a number of public exposure notifications, and anyone who visited any of these locations at the specified times who is not fully vaccinated should visit a drop-in testing clinic to be tested.
Those who are fully vaccinated should monitor for symptoms for 14 days.
