Dr. Michael Gardam appointed permanent CEO for Health PEI

The Health PEI Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Dr. Michael Gardam as the permanent CEO for Health PEI.  Dr. Gardam was recommended for the position by the Health PEI Board of Directors following a competitive search. Dr. Gardam has been Interim CEO of Health PEI since the departure of Denise Lewis Fleming last Spring when she took on the role of Deputy Minister for Finance. Previously, Dr. Gardam had been Chief Operating Officer of Health PEI.Dr. Gardam says there is a lot of work to do, including focusing on attracting and supporting the staff needed to deliver care. He says they’ll be transparent about issues they face and engage in conversations with communities to find the best ways forward.  Dr. Gardam’s appointment is effective immediately.
