The Department of Education has announced that after consultation with the Chief Public Health Office, classes will resume on Monday at West Royalty Elementary School and Ecole La-Belle Cloche.
All close contacts of confirmed COVID-19 cases that are associated with the schools are in isolation and are tested regularly. Teachers will continue to provide remote learning resources for students who are isolating.
For parents who have questions about getting their child tested or about isolation, the province has a Q&A for Parents of Children involved in COVID-19 cases and outbreaks.
Parents, students and staff are asked to screen for any symptoms every morning. All staff, students and visitors are required to stay home if they are feeling unwell.
Student Well-Being Teams will be at schools on Monday to provide additional mental and social supports for students. Parents who feel their child would benefit from these supports can also submit a referral online.
The Department of Education and Lifelong Learning will work closely with the Chief Public Health Office, the English and French language school boards, Prince Edward Island Teachers’ Federation, Canadian Union of Public Employees and the PEI Home and School Federation to continue to assess the COVID-19 situation daily and make adjustments as necessary to maintain safety for children and staff.
