The Summerside Western Capitals edged the visiting Pictou County Crushers, 4-3 in the Maritime Jr. Hockey League. The Caps led 2-0 in the first and were up 4-1 by the end of the second before the Crushers rallied. Chris McQuaid got the winner in the 2nd. Josh MacDonald scored twice and Cam Roberts had the other goal.
The Caps visit the Valley Wildcats tonight at 8.00.
The Q leading Val-d’Or Foreurs edged Blaineville, 3-2 in overtime. Samuel Poulin got the winner. Summerside defenseman Jordan Spence had two assists.
Cape Breton improved to 10-11 with a 4-1 win in Halifax. Liam Kidney scored the winner.
Charlottetown Islanders Saturday Night Hockey on Ocean 100 at 3.45 today in Halifax.
The East leading Boston Bruins shutout the NY Rangers, 1-0 in the NHL. Jaroslav Halak made 21 saves. Nick Ritchie had the only goal in the 2nd period.
West leading St. Louis got by Arizona, 4-1. Justin Faulk had a goal and assist.
The Boston Celtics lost 108-102 at home to Detroit in the NBA to drop to 13-12. Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 33 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists.
Saint Mary’s held off Acadia, 6-3 in exhibition AUS men’s hockey.
The Charlottetown Knights got by the Mount Academy Under 18 Saints, 3-1 in the Island Cup.
The Central Attack doubled the Kings County Kings, 4-2 in PEI U18. Keegan Callaghan scored twice in the first period while Ben Watts and Nik Reeves scored in the third. Gabe Hartlen, who is second in league scoring had a goal and assist for the Kings.
The Prince County Warriors over the Central Attack in U15, 9-1. Lincoln Waugh, Tyson Wedge and Carson Griffin had two goals each.
First place Georgetown edged Sherwood, 7-5 in Jr C. Michael Jenkins had 2 goals and 4 assists. Cam White scored three times.
Second place Tignish downed Southside, 9-5. Tristan Cahill had 2 goals and 3 assists and Brayden Handrahan had a goal and four assists.
