Premier Dennis King has shuffled his cabinet with a swearing-in ceremony held at Government House on Wednesday morning.
Here are the changes:
- James Aylward was sworn in as Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure;
- Steven Myers was sworn in as Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Action, which will replace the former ministry of Environment, Water and Climate Change, in addition to taking responsibility for energy policy, the PEI Energy Corporation and Net Zero strategy for Prince Edward Island;
- Brad Trivers was sworn in as Minister of Social Development and Housing;
- Ernie Hudson was sworn in as Minister of Health and Wellness; and
- Natalie Jameson was sworn in as Minister of Education and Lifelong Learning and the Minister Responsible for the Status of Women.
The remainder of the cabinet did not change.
- Dennis King, Premier & President of Executive Council, Minister of Indigenous Relations, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, and Minister of Acadian and Francophone Affairs;
- Darlene Compton, Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance;
- Jamie Fox, Minister of Fisheries and Communities;
- Matthew MacKay, Minister of Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture; and
- Bloyce Thompson, Minister of Agriculture and Land, Minister of Justice and Public Safety and Attorney General.
The cabinet shuffle comes three weeks before the start of the spring session of the legislature.
