The Epekwitk Assembly of Councils building that will open soon on the Charlottetown waterfront, will be a focal point of Mi’kmaq history and culture. It will see artwork and artisan design reflected on the interior and exterior. Chief Junior Gould of Abegweit First Nation says it will provide a space to show and share their beautiful culture and history, as well as an opportunity for Indigenous entrepreneurs to flourish. The first tenants are expected to move into the office space in early January. The building will house the Assembly Chamber for the PEI Mi’kmaq leadership, as well as provide office space for L’nuey and the Mi’kmaq Confederacy of P.E.I.
