Four Credit Unions on Prince Edward Island — the ÉvangélineCentral, Malpeque Bay, Provincial, and Tignish Credit Unions — are exploring the idea of creating one new, stronger Credit Union.
It’s under consideration with an eye on being able to provide stronger services and advice to members, more opportunities for staff, and more support for their communities.
The proposed new credit union is expected to become the largest credit union in Atlantic Canada, nearing $1.1-billion in assets, with 147 staff serving the needs of their members across 10 branches.
The final decision ultimately rests with members. If approved, members will be able to vote on the merger in the Spring of 2021.
