The Amber Alert issued in Prince Edward Island has been ended.
Summerside Police say the persons and vehicle involved in Monday’s reported abduction have been located.
After Monday evening’s updated media release, the female involved contacted police to report that she believed she was the person police were looking for and that this incident was a misunderstanding.
The person involved told police she had seen the photo of the vehicle of interest posted on social media platforms and said she was a passenger in that vehicle and yelled out the window to a friend in another vehicle, jokingly saying she had been kidnapped.
All parties in both vehicles were known to each other, and there was no intention by the woman involved to cause any alarm to the public.
Police were able to confirm the details of the woman’s version of events and are satisfied that she is the person involved and that there was no abduction.
Summerside Police Services are thanking the Charlottetown Police and RCMP for their assistance in following up on tips in relation to this matter as well as the general public for their vigilance and calls with information in relation to this incident.
