Josh Underhay was a well respected, compassionate family man who leaves behind his wife Karri and another child. She also lost their son Oliver during Friday’s tragic canoeing accident on the Hillsborough River.
Underhay was French and music teacher who taught at several schools on the Island over a more than 10 year career.
He spoke four different languages, played the trumpet and enjoyed cycling and being active.
Everyone says he had a love for life and his family.
The 36-year old went to Bluefield High School and UPEI and also studied outside of Canada.
He was born on November 2, 1983.
During his a career as teacher he taught at Elm Street School in Summerside, Glen Stewart in Stratford, Spring Park Elementary in Charlottetown plus Stonepark and Birchwood.
He grew up in Cornwall, PEI.
His mother, Sally MacDonald is staff member at Kensington Intermediate Senior High.
He was running for the Green Party in the 2019 PEI provincial election in District 9 Charlottetown-Hillsborough.
His and his son’s untimely deaths have affected many people across Prince Edward Island.
