The province says there’s been a reduction in the wait time for students for assessments since a new $2 million, three-year psychology strategy was announced a year ago.
It says the wait time has decreased to two years and three months from 3.5 years — and the wait list has dropped to 276 students from 423 a year ago.
During the past year, the Public Schools Branch hired four new school psychologists, four new itinerant resource teacher, and two assistive tech staff. Education Minister Jordan Brown says the earlier access to assessment and additional services, means that more students are getting the supports they need.
