Pavel Shen broke up a 1-1 tie with 9 minutes remaining to put the Russians ahead.

Canada lost a goalies duel in the Spengler Cup final in Davos, Switzerland, 2-1 in a shootout to Kalpo from Finland.
ISLANDERS MAKE IT THREE STRAIGHT SINCE BREAK
The Charlottetown Islanders are hot to begin the second half of the Q season.
The Isles won their third straight, 4-1 in Saint John over the Sea Dogs. Nikita Alexandrov scored twice. He’s scored in each of his last four games.
Halifax stopped Cape Breton, 7-1. The Islanders remain 3 points back of the first place Mooseheads.
Moncton downed Acadie-Bathurst, 6-3. Jeremy McKenna and Jordan Spence had assists.
CAPS KEEP ROLLING
The North leading Summerside Western Capitals ended the 2018 portion of their schedule with a win.
Summerside drop the Valley Wildcats, 4-1 as Brodie MacArthur scored twice. Summerside is 22-5.
Over 3-thousand fans took in the free game at Credit Union Place.

Two straight shutouts for New Jersey Devils rookie goalie MacKenzie Blackwood who made 25 saves in a 4-0 win over Vancouver.
