The New Year has been rung into PEI and the rest of Canada with a wind and snowfall warning. 15-20 cm of snow expected today before it changes to rain or light flurries.
There is a wind advisory on the Confederation Bridge from 10 tonight until 10 on Wednesday morning.
Today it’s a day of New Year’s levees across the province which has been the tradition for over a century.
Some levees have been cancelled.
Premier Wade MacLauchlan’s levee has been postponed.
The PEI Women’s Institute levee has been called off. It was set for the Farm Centre in Charlottetown.
The Canoe Cove Community Association has also cancelled.
The Town of Cornwall and Stratford levees have been cancelled.
Mayor Philip Brown and council members to greet the public from 10.30 until noon at City Hall.
The City of Summerside levee goes from 1.30 to 3.00.
Lt. Governor Antoinette Perry will hold her levee at Government House from 10 to 11.30 this morning.
