The 2019 Polar Bear Swim is set for Tuesday on New Year’s Day.
The traditional January 1st dip into the icy waters of the Charlottetown Harbour will take place at 10.00 in the morning.
About 100 brave souls took the plunge last year.
Organizer Cheryl Paynter says it will again be a fundraiser for the Upper Room Food Bank. Participants are asked to bring non-perishable food items or cash to donate to those who need it most.
In case of ice, the organizers will bring a chain saw and ladder to the site of the dip which is next to the Charlottetown Yacht Club off Water Street.
Participants should bring warm blankets, old sneakers, housecoats and towels and something to stand on like a mat.
The dip into the water usually takes just a few seconds.
