Shortly after midnight, in the early morning hours of Christmas Day, a Kings District RCMP officer responded to a report of an intoxicated man causing a disturbance at a residence in Lower Montague.
When the officer arrived, the man was bleeding from the head and when the officer tried to assess the extent of the injury, the man used a guitar to strike the officer in the chest. During the altercation that followed, the officer sustained a significant injury to his knee.
The 70 year-old man was released on a Promise to Appear for court in Georgetown on January 17, 2019, on charges of assault on a police officer and mischief.
