An Island man has been fined 500 dollars for violating the Animal Welfare Act after his dog had to be euthanized.
William Sheldon Wheatley is also banned from owning companion animals for a year.
In 2017 a person found Wheatley’s dog with bleeding tumours on its leg and belly.
The person brought the dog to the Atlantic Veterinary College where it was later euthanized.
Defence lawyer Ewan Clark said Wheatley felt guilty and responsible for what happened to the dog.
