STORMS STOPPED BY THE NICKELS
The Central Division leading Sudbury Five dropped the Island Storm, 130-108 in NBL basketball in northern Ontario on Friday night.
That’s four straight losses for the Storm who were led by Sampson Carter with 28 points.
Braylon Rayson had 29 for Sudbury.
The Storm is 2-5.

Atlantic leading Moncton took its first loss.
The Magic went down, 114-84 facing the Cape Breton Highlanders ending Moncton’s 10 game win streak.
CAPS LOSE IN GRAND FALLS
Chris Melendez broke up a 4-4 with about 2 and a half minutes left in the third period as the hometown Grand Falls Rapids trimmed the Summerside Western Capitals, 5-4 in MHL hockey. Sullivan Sparkes had tied the game early in the final period.
T.J. Shea and Callum Muirhead both got their 19th of the season. Josh MacDonald had the other.
The Caps are 8-2 in their last 10 and are a point up Campbellton in the North. The Tigers stopped St. Stephen, 5-2.
HALL HAS BIG NIGHT FACING SENS
Taylor Hall had a pair of goals and two assists as New Jersey dropped Ottawa, 5-2 in the NHL.
Bad boy Tom Wilson scored the winner as Washington edged Buffalo, 2-1.
Chicago shaded Colorado, 2-1.
CANADA WINS ANOTHER TUNE-UP
Team Canada Junior pounced on Slovakia, 6-1 in pre-World Junior action on the west coast. Cody Glass had a goal and two assists for Canada.
Canada is 2-0 in pre-tournament play.
