- Make it 10 straight wins for the Buffalo Sabres. Buffalo recovered from blowing a two-goal lead to beat the San Jose Sharks 3-2 and clinch first place in the Atlantic Division.
- Elsewhere, the Los Angeles Kings slipped past Vancouver 2-1 in ovetime…it took overtime as well for the Oilers to nab a 1-0 victory over Dallas…the Jets fell 4 – 3 to the Penquins…and the return of Shea Weber couldn’t help the Montreal Canadiens. They fell 2-1 to the Carolina Hurricanes to stretch their losing skid to five games
- Cody Payne of the UPEI Panthers men’s hockey team is the Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week. The third-year forward earned back-to-back Player of the Game honours in two weekend wins for the Panthers.
- Badminton players, Isabelle Saunders and Josh Watkins have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week.
- A 17-point deficit wasn’t enough to take the Raptors out of the game. Toronto came back to down Memphis 122 – 114.
