Finance Minister Heath MacDonald says the province’s Second Quarter Forecast for 2018-19 indicates a surplus of over $4.3-million, an improvement from the budgeted surplus of some $1.4-million.
MacDonald says a trend of solid economic growth over the last number of years continues into 2018. He points to population growth of 1.8 per cent in 2018, compared to 2017. MacDonald adds that total labour income has grown 4.1 per cent, and housing starts are up 3.6 per cent.
