The latest report from the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council forecasts economic growth in Prince Edward Island will be 2.2% this year. It says a higher population is seeing a boost in household spending and residential investment, but non-residential investment and exports have declined.
It says positive gains in population support real GDP growth of 2% in 2019 although weaker investment, tourism, and exports will temper growth to 1.5%
