Statistics Canada says that, nationally, the economy added 11,200 jobs in October.
The unemployment rate decreased to 5.8 per cent compared with 5.9 per cent in September.
Economists had expected an increase of 10,000 jobs and an unemployment rate of 5.9 per cent.
In PEI, employment rose by 500 in October while the unemployment rate fell to 7.2 per cent from September`s 8.7 per cent.
