The Tourism Industry Association of PEI is voicing concerns about the announced increase in the minimum wage set for April 1st of next year.
TIAPEI says the announced increase will be double that of the current rate of inflation, and will mark an almost 53% increase in minimum wage over the past 10 years. It says that during that same time period, we’ve seen a cost of living increase of 16%.
TIAPEI has long called for fixing minimum wage increases to the Cost of Living Index and substantially raising the Personal Basic Tax Exemption.
