A new report by the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council says the digital economy is becoming increasingly important in the region.
It says the rapid growth is due in part to download speeds increasing across Atlantic Canada — but download speeds and internet access remain much lower in rural communities. It says about 50 per cent of households in P-E-I do not have high-speed internet access.
